The Annual Sanibel Shell
Festival is the world’s longest running shell festival and this coming
year’s festival will surely not disappoint! Festival attendees will have
opportunities to view and purchase beautiful artistic shell creations
like Sailor’s Valentines, jewelry, critters, and works of art. There
will be shell experts that will give presentations, scientific booths
about shells, live tanks with living mollusks, as well as a variety of
books to purchase. The Shell Club of Sanibel sponsors the shell show
inside The Community House which includes the Scientific Division and
the Artistic Division. The outdoor section of the festival includes
shell arts & crafts, a kid’s tent, and educational talks. There will
also be a raffle that will include prizes such as a weekend stay at a
Captiva resort, a Sailor’s Valentine, original artwork, and many other
great items. A $5 entry donation is requested to visit the inside shows
and funds are used to supply grants to several local educational and
conservation organizations and marine scholarships at both University of
Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University. For more information about
